AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA)

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits employment discrimination against qualified individuals with disabilities. Disability under the act is defined as “a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity.” Federal and State law prohibiting disability discrimination covers a wide sector of employment practice, from hiring and determining wages to promotion and discharge of employees. Many discrimination cases in Washington State involve an employer’s failure to provide reasonable accommodation for a worker’s impairment.

The employment attorneys of Emery Reddy have substantial experience in disability law and believe that all employees have the right to equal treatment and a productive and fulfilling work life. We can help you identify your options and make informed decisions in all areas of employment law. Our attorneys defend individuals with disabilities against discrimination when their rights have been violated in the workplace. Claims may involve the following:

  • Failure to hire an individual on the basis of a disability
  • Failure to promote an employee because of disability
  • Failure to reasonably accommodate a disability
  • Job termination due to disability
  • Retaliation resulting from disability accommodations or requests for accommodations
  • Other adverse employment action on the basis of disability

If you believe that your rights have been violated under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the employment attorneys at Emery Reddy will fight to help you recover damages. Call us directly or request a consultation through our client-scheduling calendar.
