UNION ISSUES

For employees who belong to a union or work in a job category made up of union members, the workplace will be governed by a union contract (generally known as a Collective Bargaining Agreement). This contract usually regulates wages, work schedules, job duties, benefits, and other employment issues such as termination.

If you are organizing a Washington workplace, or are involved in collective bargaining, contact an employment attorney at Emery Reddy for experienced counsel and guidance on union issues.

Many union contracts greatly benefit workers; however, unions sometimes fail to enforce the Collective Bargaining Agreement on behalf of their members, or discriminate against individual members. If you are involved in a union-related dispute, you may also wish to contact the National Labor Relations Board. This federal agency administers the National Labor Relations Act, the principle law governing relations between private sector employers and unions.
