Every day, workers in different industries across Washington State are injured by workplace hazards including:
- Slips, Trips, and Falls
- Falls from heights (ladders, elevations)
- Moving parts on machinery
- Strains and sprains (lifting, moving, reaching)
- Third Party Injuries
Some of the more serious injuries such as broken bones, head trauma, internal bleeding and amputations result from worker exposure to these hazards. In the most tragic cases, death itself can occur.
To help reduce these risks, the Department of Labor and Industries has just developed a new webpage of workplace safety resources, including brief one-minute videos that raise awareness about everyday on-the-job hazards, as well as investigation stories and narrations of real accidents that have killed or injured workers in Washington State. The website also includes resources like topic pages, posters and publications, hazard alerts, and L&I safety workshops.
These resources are available to employers and their workers to help with workplace hazard awareness,; everyone is urged to follow these simple steps to help prevent injuries.
Remember: Keep your eye on safety and use these resources to identify and eliminate hazards in your workplace!
