Cailey Afualo, Paralegal
Cailey has worked as a Paralegal for the Litigation team where she assists with Class Action litigation practice since she joined Emery | Reddy in 2022. She has a degree in Sociology from the University of Washington and a Paralegal Certificate from George Mason University. She has been working in the legal field since 2009 and has extensive litigation experience in many practice areas, including Criminal Defense, Patent Prosecution, Patent and IP Litigation, Contract Disputes, Personal Injury, and Government Contracting. Cailey is highly motivated to help right wrongs against clients, dive into the facts of the cases, and strategize with the team on how to accomplish the best outcome. She enjoys traveling, art, boxing, jiu jitsu, and spending time with her two children and their dog, Roosevelt
Stephanie Atencio, Case Manager
Stephanie has been a Case Manager with Emery | Reddy since 2022. Before joining the team, she worked reviewing Medicare appeals. She graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a degree in International Relations. She enjoys hiking, camping, biking, and has recently joined a book club.
Lesley Ballard, Paralegal
Lesley is a Paralegal assisting in Employment matters and has been with Emery | Reddy since 2019, where she began as an Intake Specialist and Paralegal. Before joining the team, Lesley was a Paralegal at a civil litigation firm in San Diego. She began her studies in law with a degree in Political Science from the University of California San Diego and continued with an internship at The Legal Aid Society of San Diego’s Landlord/Tenant clinic.
Stephen Beer, Paralegal
Stephen is a Paralegal with a focus on employment law, wrongful termination, discrimination, and contract law. Since he joined the Emery | Reddy team in 2022, he has brought a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive environment for clients of all identities. He strives to create a myriad of dynamic interpersonal connections with staff and clients in an effort to preserve trust and promote healthy spaces as they navigate life and the complexities of legal matters. Stephen received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology & Economics with a Minor in Judaic Studies from the University of Michigan. He enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with his friends in and out of the city.
Jennifer Chong, Legal Assistant
Jennifer is a Legal Assistant with nearly two decades of experience in her field. She joined the team at Emery Reddy in 2016 and helps our attorneys with legal research, hearings and mediations, and managing workers’ compensation and employment cases. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and her dog, Lucy.
Kati Christopher, Senior Paralegal
Kati joined Emery | Reddy in 2015 and is the team’s most senior paralegal. With 12 years of workers’ compensation expertise, Kati works with our L&I Workers’ Compensation attorneys, legal team, and clients to ensure that each case receives proper care and attention. Kati graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. She enjoys coaching figure skating, traveling, and spending time with her husband and their cat, Cinnamon.
Rebecca Gil, Paralegal
Rebecca has been with Emery | Reddy since the beginning of 2019. She is a paralegal assisting with Employment, Third-Party, and Auto Accident cases. She is currently pursuing a Law degree.
Caleb Lewis, Senior Paralegal
Caleb joined the team at Emery | Reddy in the beginning of 2020. He is a Paralegal who assists with Workers’ Compensation claims. He has a bachelor's degree from Western Washington University.
Alec Mikesell, Paralegal
Alec joined Emery | Reddy in the summer of 2022 as a receptionist and has worked his way through the Intake team to his current position as a Paralegal on the Employment team. He has an affinity for justice, and he enjoys the opportunity to work at a firm that exclusively serves injured workers and employees. His interest in US Labor History led Alec to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in History at Brigham Young University—Idaho. After obtaining his degree, he transplanted to Seattle where he enjoys the nature of the Northwest, as well as creating and appreciating the art of others.
Hunter Mullaly, Case Manager
Hunter is the most senior Case Manager at Emery | Reddy. She has been helping injured workers with their claims since the beginning of 2022. She has a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Political Science and Health from Western Oregon University. In her free time, she enjoys coaching softball and relaxing at home.

Calum Bryant, Law Clerk
Calum has been with the firm since 2021 where he began as a Document Clerk but quickly rose to the position of Case Manager and is now Emery | Reddy’s Law Clerk. He works closely with the firm’s attorneys to perform legal research and drafting. He also uses his experience as a Case Manager to assist with Workers’ Compensation claims and ensure positive outcomes from Independent Medical Exams, Department Orders, and matters before the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals.
Calum graduated cum laude from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He now attends the University of Washington School of Law in pursuit of a J.D. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, gardening, and taking care of his dog, Noodle.
Rachel LaFonte, Case Manager
Rachel is the newest member of the Emery | Reddy team having joined in the latter half of 2023. She graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a concentration in Criminology and Criminal Justice. She has spent the majority of her career working with victims and offenders of sexual assault crimes, and she is experienced in the field of Criminal Justice. She is excited to continue to help the injured with their Worker’s Compensation claims.
Michelle Payne, Case Manager
Michelle joined the team at Emery | Reddy in 2023 as a Case Manager. Originally from North Carolina, she is a recent transplant to Washington from Virginia and is new to the legal field. However, she previously worked for the Virginia Health Department as a Case Investigator and is currently pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. Michelle holds an Associate of Science with a focus on Social Sciences, and she is a former horse carriage driver and sheep-shearer. She enjoys making a difference for clients and learning new skills along the way.
