25 Cities Where Women Earn More Than Men

Across the U.S., the majority of women earn less than men. But 25 cities actually defy that trend.

In Inglewood, California, for example, women make $1.20 for every dollar their male counterpart earns according to a new analysis of full-time median income by the finance website NerdWallet. That’s a much better arrangement for women than one finds the U.S. as a whole, where typically women earn roughly 79 cents for every dollar a man makes, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In Inglewood, women out-earn men by the most significant margin, according to a recent study. What stands out about the list of cities below is that the majority of them are relatively poor communities. Most of those 22 cities have a median income that’s below the national median income of $29,031.
