On or about November 28, 2024, North Los Angeles County Regional Center (“NLACRC”) became aware of suspicious activity involving its computer systems. According to the Notice of Data Event, NLACRC promptly took steps to investigate the issue, secure its systems, and engage cybersecurity professionals.

Following the initial investigation, NLACRC confirmed that certain personal information may have been impacted. The forensic review determined that files were accessed or taken without authorization between November 20, 2024 and December 1, 2024. Because of the complexity of the review, it was not until a later stage that NLACRC identified affected individuals and issued notification letters.

After identifying the affected data, NLACRC worked to restore its systems and strengthen its cybersecurity posture, including enhanced monitoring, password security improvements, and engagement of data security professionals.

North Los Angeles County Regional Center provides services and support coordination to individuals and families, including services related to developmental disabilities in Los Angeles County.

NLACRC stated that, at the time of notification, it had not identified evidence of identity theft or fraud related to the incident. However, unauthorized access to personal information may have occurred.

Affected individuals began receiving written notification letters following completion of the investigation. If you received a Notice of Data Event from NLACRC, it confirms that your personal information may have been involved.

As part of its response, NLACRC is offering affected individuals complimentary identity protection and credit monitoring services through Experian IdentityWorks.
