January 12, 2026

NOTICE: If you received a NOTICE OF DATA BREACH letter from Payactiv, contact Emery | Reddy, PC at 916.995.5968 for a Free Case Review.

In August 2025, Payactiv learned of a security incident involving consumer information. Payactiv identified unusual activity within its network and determined that an unauthorized actor viewed information stored in its systems between April 3, 2025 and August 20, 2025. Upon discovery, the company activated its response protocols, launched an investigation with third‑party cybersecurity experts, and notified law enforcement.

Payactiv, a financial technology company providing earned wage access and payroll‑related services, maintains consumer data used for identity verification and financial processing.

Following the breach, Payactiv arranged 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through Epiq – Privacy Solutions ID. Impacted individuals received instructions on how to enroll.

The company advises affected individuals to stay vigilant and regularly review account statements, credit reports, and financial activity for potential unauthorized transactions.

What information is involved in the Payactiv Data Breach?

Compromised information may include:

Name

Social Security Number

Other Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

Payactiv emphasizes the importance of protecting personal and financial information and directs individuals to take precautionary measures. Based on the identity protection services offered, exposed data may include sensitive PII that could be misused for identity theft or fraud.

Your Personally Identifiable Information (PII) includes sensitive data that can be used to identify you. Organizations are legally required to safeguard this information, and failure to do so may carry legal consequences. PII in the wrong hands can be used to commit identity theft or fraud.

A subset of PII — Protected Health Information (PHI) — includes medical or health‑related data. PHI is strictly protected under federal and state law. When combined with PII, PHI can enable more extensive identity‑related fraud.

Payactiv encourages consumers to monitor their accounts, request free annual credit reports, and consider placing fraud alerts or security freezes. The notice also includes detailed contact information for Equifax, Experian, TransUnion, and the Federal Trade Commission, as well as state‑specific resources.

At this time, Payactiv reports no confirmation of misuse of the impacted information.

Consumers should remain alert for unusual activity and utilize the complimentary identity protection services provided by Payactiv to help mitigate risks.

California residents benefit from additional protections under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA), which impose strict privacy and data security requirements.

If you received a NOTICE OF DATA BREACH letter from Payactiv, your personal and/or financial information may be at risk. This type of sensitive data can be misused by identity thieves to commit fraud and other crimes.
