A ransomware group says it published data taken from North Bridge Venture Partners, a Boston-area venture capital firm. It is the second group to claim an attack on the firm in 2026, and North Bridge has not said a word publicly.

North Bridge Venture Partners is a venture capital firm founded in 1994. It invests in technology companies and manages a series of venture funds. Its management company, North Bridge Venture Management Company, LLC, is listed at an address in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

On October 16, 2026, a ransomware group called The Gentlemen listed North Bridge on its leak site with a countdown clock, according to ransomware tracking services. The deadline passed around October 24. Ransomware trackers now show the group has posted the data.

Who Is The Gentlemen?

The Gentlemen is a ransomware-as-a-service operation. That means the people who build the ransomware rent it out to other criminals, who carry out the attacks. Ransomware is software that locks a victim’s files until a ransom is paid. Groups like this often steal data first and then threaten to publish it if the victim does not pay.

A Second Ransomware Claim Against North Bridge in 2026

This is not the first claim this year. On May 27, 2026, a different ransomware group, DragonForce, also claimed an attack on North Bridge, according to DeXpose. DragonForce said it would publish a full leak unless the firm contacted it.

It is not known whether the two claims involve the same data or the same break-in. North Bridge has not made any public statement about either claim.

No Public Notice Yet

As of October 28, 2026, North Bridge has not posted a notice, filed with a state attorney general or filed with the SEC about this incident. Massachusetts law requires a business to notify affected residents, the Massachusetts Attorney General and the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation as soon as practicable and without unreasonable delay after learning of a breach.

The firm has not said when it learned of the attack or how many people are affected.

What Information Was Exposed?

North Bridge has not confirmed what data was taken. The Gentlemen’s listing does not describe the data. Venture capital firms often hold records such as:

  • Investor and limited partner records, which can include tax and bank details
  • Employee records
  • Portfolio company financials and deal documents
  • Email and internal files

These are the kinds of records a firm like this may keep. It has not been confirmed that any of them were in the stolen data.

What Is North Bridge Offering?

Nothing has been announced. North Bridge has not offered credit monitoring or identity protection as of October 28, 2026. People who receive a notice letter later should read it closely for any offer and enrollment deadline.

Your Information Is at Risk

Investors in private funds often give the fund their Social Security or tax ID numbers, bank account details and proof of identity. If records like these are posted online, criminals can use them for identity theft, account takeover or wire fraud. Fake emails that pretend to come from the fund are a common next step.

People connected to North Bridge can take steps now:

  • Place a free credit freeze with Equifax, Experian and TransUnion
  • Watch bank, brokerage and credit accounts for unusual activity
  • Call to confirm any wire or payment instruction that arrives by email
  • Be careful with messages that mention North Bridge or the attack
  • Keep any notice letter the firm sends

Do You Have Legal Options?

FAQ

Was North Bridge Venture Partners hacked?

A ransomware group called The Gentlemen listed the firm on its leak site on October 16, 2026, and trackers show the group has posted data. A different group, DragonForce, claimed an attack on the firm in May 2026. North Bridge has not commented on either claim.

How many people were affected?

No one knows yet. North Bridge has not released a number, and the group’s listing does not give one.

What information may have been exposed?

The firm has not confirmed any data types. Records held by venture firms often include investor tax and bank details and employee records, so people connected to the firm may want to take steps now.

I haven’t received a letter. Should I wait?

You do not have to wait. A notice may still come. In the meantime, you can freeze your credit, watch your accounts and confirm any payment request by phone.

Someone contacted me about the North Bridge attack. Is it real?

Be careful. Criminals often use news of a breach to send fake emails, texts or calls. Do not click links, share information or send money. Contact the firm directly using a phone number you already know.

Do I have a legal claim?

You may. Financial firms have a duty to protect personal information and to notify people when it is exposed.
