Access Corp. (“Access”) recently notified certain individuals of a data security incident that may have resulted in unauthorized access to personal information. According to the notification letter sent to affected individuals, the incident involved access to data maintained by Access, prompting the company to issue notices and provide guidance on protecting against potential identity theft or fraud.

Access the largest privately held records and information management services provider in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America, founded in 2004. They offer end-to-end solutions, including secure offsite storage, document scanning/digitization, and destruction services to help organizations manage, protect, and govern their physical and digital records.

Upon learning of the incident, Access reported that it took steps to address the situation and protect the security of affected data. The company indicated that it is taking the incident seriously and implementing measures intended to safeguard personal information.

Following its review, Access determined that personal information belonging to certain individuals may have been involved. After completing its assessment and identifying the potentially impacted data, Access began issuing written notification letters to affected individuals.

As part of its response, Access stated that it is offering 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through Experian IdentityWorks to impacted individuals. Enrollment instructions are provided in the notification letter and accompanying attachments.

Access also advised recipients to remain vigilant by monitoring financial accounts and credit reports for suspicious activity and to take advantage of the identity protection resources being offered.
