On or about March 20, 2025, Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, Ltd. (“DHR Health”) discovered suspicious activity within its internal network. The company immediately secured the environment and engaged cybersecurity specialists to investigate the incident. The investigation determined that unauthorized access occurred between March 18, 2025, and March 20, 2025, during which certain files and folders were accessed or acquired.

While there is no evidence of identity theft or fraud, the review concluded that some personal and protected health information may have been involved. DHR Health reported the breach to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on May 15, 2025, and published a Notice of Privacy Incident.

DHR Health is a physician-owned health system in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas that provides a wide range of medical services to over 1.5 million people. Founded by local physicians to address healthcare access issues in the region, it is the largest health system in South Texas, offering everything from primary care to advanced specialties like a Level 1 trauma center, a dedicated women’s hospital, and a Level III neonatal intensive care unit.

Following the breach, DHR Health implemented enhanced security measures and continues to monitor its systems.
