On August 14, 2025, Marquis Software Solutions (“Marquis”) detected suspicious activity on its network and confirmed a cybersecurity incident. The company immediately launched an investigation, engaged cybersecurity experts, and notified federal law enforcement. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party accessed Marquis’ network and may have acquired certain files. The breach was limited to Marquis’ environment and did not affect CoVantage Credit Union’s internal systems.
On or about September 8, 2025, Marquis engaged an expert to attempt to identify the identity of specific individuals whose data was affected by the incident. While there is no evidence of misuse or attempted misuse of the data, Marquis began notifying affected individuals on or around October 27, 2025, and offered complimentary identity protection services.
Marquis Software Solutions is a Plano, Texas-based digital and physical marketing and communications vendor serving financial institutions nationwide. CoVantage Credit Union, headquartered in Antigo, Wisconsin, was among the impacted customers.
Following the breach, Marquis implemented enhanced security measures, including multi-factor authentication, firewall patching, geo-IP filtering, and deployment of Endpoint Detection and Response tools.
