On August 11, 2025, TAK Broadband became aware of suspicious activity within its network environment affecting certain internal systems. The company immediately contained the situation and launched an investigation with the support of external cybersecurity professionals. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party accessed certain TAK systems between August 2, 2025 and August 12, 2025, during which the attacker acquired files containing personal information.
A thorough review of the impacted files was completed on January 14, 2026, confirming that personal information belonging to certain individuals was present in the compromised data.
TAK Broadband is a fiber broadband network construction contractor operating in 42 states, providing end-to-end services including engineering, construction, drop, and fulfillment. Following the discovery, TAK notified federal law enforcement, reviewed its existing security policies, and began implementing additional safeguards and employee training.
On or about February 19, 2026, TAK sent data breach notification letters to affected individuals, including four New Hampshire residents, and offered complimentary identity protection services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company.

Your Personally Identifiable Information (PII) can be exploited by criminals to commit fraud, open unauthorized accounts, or engage in identity theft. This type of information is highly sensitive, and once exposed, individuals may face long‑term risks if proactive steps are not taken.
A specific category of PII is Protected Health Information (PHI), which pertains to personal medical data. PHI is safeguarded under both federal and state regulations. Entities such as healthcare providers and businesses that manage PHI must ensure its security. Just like PII, compromised PHI can be misused by identity thieves, and it’s common for cybercriminals to use both types of information together.
TAK Broadband is offering complimentary credit monitoring services for twelve months through Cyberscout, along with detailed guidance on how individuals can protect themselves from identity fraud—including placing fraud alerts or security freezes, reviewing financial and insurance statements, and monitoring credit reports.
Residents of California benefit from additional privacy protections under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which grants enhanced rights regarding personal data. Additionally, California residents also benefit from medical privacy protections under the Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA), which specifically grants enhanced protections for confidential medical data.
If you received a NOTICE OF DATA BREACH letter from TAK Broadband, your personal and/or identification information may be at risk. Identity thieves often use compromised data to commit fraud, so it is essential to remain alert.
