Amgen has confirmed that hackers stole patient personal information and protected health information from cloud environments hosted by third-party service providers. The company has now begun sending data breach notification letters to affected individuals informing them that sensitive personal and medical information may have been exposed during the cybersecurity incident.

According to Amgen notification letters, exposed information may include name, email address, postal address, date of birth, government identification number, medical information, health insurance information, and for some individuals Social Security numbers and/or financial account information including bank account numbers.
