On or about December 15, 2025, Educational Employees Credit Union (“EECU”) became aware of suspicious activity involving an employee email account. According to the Notice of Data Breach, the organization promptly secured its email environment and initiated a thorough investigation with the assistance of cybersecurity professionals.

Following the investigation, EECU determined that certain emails may have been accessed or removed by an unauthorized individual on December 15, 2025. After completing a detailed review of the impacted account, the organization confirmed on May 8, 2026, that some of those emails contained personal information requiring notification.

After identifying the affected emails, EECU worked to enhance its security environment and continues to evaluate and improve its internal controls and safeguards to better protect sensitive information moving forward.

Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU) is a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative serving over 400,000 members across 12 California counties. Holding over $5 billion in assets, it provides a full suite of banking services.

EECU also stated that it has no evidence of misuse of personal information at this time. However, the investigation confirmed that unauthorized access to certain email contents did occur.

Individuals whose information may have been involved began receiving written notification letters in May 2026. If you received a Notice of Data Breach from Educational Employees Credit Union, it confirms that your personal information may have been impacted.

As part of its response, EECU is offering affected individuals complimentary identity monitoring services through Kroll for two years, including credit monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity restoration services, provided individuals enroll by the stated deadline.
