NOTICE: If you received a NOTICE OF DATA BREACH letter from Beacon Mutual, contact Emery | Reddy, PC at 916.995.5968 for a Free Case Review.

On or about January 14, 2026, The Beacon Mutual Insurance Company (“Beacon Mutual”) became aware of unauthorized activity affecting its computer network. According to the Notice of Data Event, the company immediately took steps to contain the activity, launched an investigation, and reported the incident to law enforcement authorities.

Following its investigation, Beacon Mutual determined that an unauthorized individual gained access to certain systems between January 7 and January 14, 2026, and acquired copies of specific files during that time.

Due to the scope and complexity of the review process, Beacon Mutual undertook a detailed examination of the affected files. On April 16, 2026, the company confirmed that one or more of those files contained personal information belonging to impacted individuals and that notification was warranted.

After identifying the scope of the incident, Beacon Mutual worked to secure its systems and enhance existing cybersecurity safeguards. The company reported that it has taken additional steps to strengthen its network security and reduce the risk of similar incidents occurring in the future.

Beacon Mutual Insurance Company is a workers’ compensation insurance provider headquartered in Rhode Island, serving employers and workers by offering coverage and claims-related services across its operating regions.

Beacon Mutual stated that, at the time notification letters were issued, the company had not identified confirmed instances of identity theft or fraud directly linked to the incident. However, the investigation confirmed that unauthorized access and data acquisition did occur.

Individuals whose information may have been involved began receiving written notification letters in May 2026. If you received a Notice of Data Event from Beacon Mutual Insurance Company, it indicates that your personal information may have been impacted by this data security incident.

As part of its response, Beacon Mutual is offering affected individuals complimentary identity protection services through Experian IdentityWorks, which include credit monitoring, identity restoration assistance, and identity theft insurance coverage, provided individuals enroll by the specified deadline.
